RICHFIELD INVITATIONAL:
6/13-14/09
ELM CREEK TAKES 1ST PLACE
WITH 7-6 COMEBACK VICTORY
OVER BURNSVILLE!
(Richfield, MN) 6/14/09 - On a day when Elm Creek seemed to be losing more players to flu-like symptoms than they were scoring runs, the girls managed to scrape enough energy and hits together to win the Richfield Summer Classic Tournament with a come-from-behind 7-6, bottom-of-the-7th inning 7-6 victory over the Burnsville 16s.
Last year Elm Creek came in 2nd after a deflating 15-5 loss at the hands of the Richfield BP Amoco team.
Elm Creek won 5 games in-a-row between Saturday and Sunday to win the event, including 10-run wins over the North St. Paul Hustlers15-3, and Butch's Beasts 16-5 on Saturday.
Sunday, under the best weather Elm Creek has seen this year, the Sioux Falls Twisters took an early 3-2 lead after two innings. The girls posted a 6-spot in the top of the third to take an 8-3 lead then they never looked back, winning 14-5 to go 3 & 0 in open play.
In the semi-final, Hels Angels took a 3 to 1 lead in the lower half of the 5th, stringing together 3 of their total 7 hits to post 2 runs in the frame.
The Creek scratched out 4 runs in the top of the 6th, added another in the 7th and held on to win 6-4 to advance to the championship.
A fancy 3-run rally in the bottom of the 6th in the championship tied up the game 6-6.
A stunning double-play in the top of the 7th squashed a scoring bid by the Burnsville squad that opened the door for the win in the bottom of the 7th for the Creek.
KOEP ASSAULTED BY ERRANT BALL
(Champlin, MN) 5/16/09 - Elm Creek Shortstop Christa Koep was hammered by a bad-hop ball in bottom of the 1st off the bat of The Hustler's #10- the 8th batter in their lineup that mashed her throwing hand into a fleshy pile of rubble.
With 2 out and a runner on first, #10 smashed a worm-burner between Koep and 2nd base. Koep maneuvered to grab the ball and get the force at 2nd to end the inning.
Instead of being able to make the play, the second bounce of the ball found a boulder of the type that frequents Clyde Andrews infields that turned the projectile into a missile aimed at Koep's tea-drinking, Miss Manners pinky finger on her right hand.
To say that her hand was injured would be rather unsummational, as she fell into a pain induced clump on the ground at her position as the runners advanced. The inning ended with the next batter striking out and #12 returned to the dugout.
Koep sat out only an inning or two, guarding her now lobster-claw sized right mitt to avoid futher injury.
A splint was added and the gritty, young shortstop continued to play the tournament with seeming panache and etiquette with her right pinky raised high in the air as she later turned a 6-3-2 double play against Burnsville.
Koep's only request was, "Do you have any more Aspercreme?"
2009 CDAA REGULAR SEASON OPENS!
(Champlin, MN) 5/19/09 - Elm Creek's 2009 19U regular season play opened with a 18-0 win over Brian Tommerdahl's Softball Senoritas at Clyde Andrews Field 2.
Under clear skies and an unseasonably warm 82°F, the girls came out with their 'hittin shoes on and almost batted around in the bottom half of the 1st, scoring 5 runs by smacking 7 hits and sending 11 players to the plate. 3 of the runs scored with 2 outs.
The inning was highlighted by Jackie McLain's bases loaded double and an uncharacteristic, opposite field single by Alicia "White Shoes" Hughes.
The "big" inning was the 3rd when 17 players came to the plate, pounding 11 hits and adding 12 runs. Steff Larson took advantage of an outfield playing "in" and lead off the inning with a monster triple to left. Hughes, seemingly believing that right field is the right field, splattered another wrong-way hit to score Larson. Larson doubled and scored later in this same inning!
Heather Schiller placed a two-run double in the inning and the "Beast" Katie Meissner welcomed herself back to 19U play with her own two-run double.
In the second game the girls lost 26-20 to a hot-hitting Wild Things team.

Elm Creek Clinches
tie for 16U Division
Crown!
ELM CREEK 22 - TOYOTA CITY 0
(Champlin, MN) - A ten-run first inning and a one-hit pitching/defensive performance lead to a shutout for the creek as the girls improve their record to 7-0 in CDAA league play, Wednesday night 6/4.
In a game shortened to just 3 innings, each Creek player got at least one hit. In the top half of the first, singles by Katie Meissner, Jamie Lichy, Christa Koep, Jackie McLain, Megan Steffel and Kelli Thiel provided RBI opportunities for a double by Alicia Hughes, a triple by Heather Schiller and a two-run homer by Hannah Schiller.
Toyota went down on 3 pitches in the bottom of the first 1-2-3. Highlighted by the first out catch of a towering fly ball that Tonya LaMont made in left-field foul territory.
In the second, nine more runs were tacked on by the Creek with doubles by Steff Larson and McLain. Homers by Lichy and Hannah Schiller's second boosted the score. Hannah finished with six RBI.
Sam Ubl ended the second for Toyota with a sure-handed catch at third base.
Three more runs were added in the third by the Creek and Toyota was shut down to end the game.
ELM CREEK 13 - BPAA 3

LARSON DONATES HAIR!
(Fridley, MN) - Totino-Grace freshman and Elm Creek outfielder Steff Larson bravely stepped up and let a pair of barber shears lop off a foot of her impressive main of hair for a chairity that utilizes the hair for wigs for people with hair-loss due to various medical malidies.
The event was shown on KARE-11 locally as several others at the school donated some of their ear-to-ear carpeting to the cause. You can see the video by clicking here.
"I had plenty, so why not?" said Larson, whose main regret (or reason for) the hair loss was actually so that R. J. wouldn't be able to announce "pull here to activate bat" in the batting order" in referring to Larson's long braid that can be seen in the 2007 Nationals pictures under Photos.
Congratulations to Steff on this selfless act of kindness.

ELM CREEK 12 - LINDA'S CAFE 11
(Champlin, MN) - On a night that most everything was going wrong, Sam Ubl did something right with a walk-off, bases-loaded smash to left field that scored winning runner Katie Meissner from second base.
The hit came in the bottom of the 6th and final inning to beat the gritty Linda's Cafe 12-11, completing a comeback from a 9-0 deficit Wednesday night 5/28.
Linda's started off the night scoring one in the top half of the first off of two singles and an error. After a scoreless Elm Creek frame, the Restaurant Girls put together eight runs in the second inning, taking advantage of five walks and three timely hits including a 3-run homer by Number 22. All five players that walked scored for Linda's.
With the score now 9-0, the Creek managed nothing until the bottom of the 4th when three straight singles by Jamie Lichy, Christa Koep and Ubl were followed by a walk from Alicia Hughes and a 2-run single by Hannah Schiller. Tonya LaMont walked forcing in the fourth run of the inning and the score was 9-4 in Linda's favor.
Defense became the issue for the Creek as the girls had to hold off the hard-hitting girls of the Roger's breakfast haven. Steff Larson's stabbing catch of what appeared to be a gap-shot in right helped to stop the bleeding in the big Linda's 2nd. The importance of hitting the cut-off became evident in three relays that caught Linda's runners at second and twice at third.
After the Creek added another run in the 5th to make the score 9-5, Linda's posted two more of their own in the top half of the 6th from a single and a home run by Number 00. With the score now 11-5, things looked bleak for the Creek.
The 6th didn't start well when the left-fielder for Linda's robbed Hannah Schiller of extra bases with a high-jump catch of a blast to deep left. However, things changed when Jackie McLain muscled an inside pitch up the middle for a seeing-eye single. LaMont then plopped a Texas-Leaguer into right and Larson walked the bases full.
Linda's changed pitchers then Rachel Koehler then hammered a ground ball just to the third base side of second and shortstop got a glove on it, but stumbled enough to allow everyone to be safe, scoring McLain.
With the score now 11-6, the bases loaded and 1 out, Kelli Thiel managed a walk, after taking a first-pitch strike, that forced in LaMont making it 11-7.
The bases were loaded for Meissner who singled just over the glove of the shortstop allowing Larson to score, putting the game at 11-8. Lichy then walked forcing in Koehler making it 11-9.
Koep then hit a worm-burner that the second-sacker could only kick, but a great back-up play by Linda's allowed only Thiel to score and held up Meissner at second. Then it was Ubl's turn.

"Why you should learn Spanish", or "Why I quit the sponsor-getting biz"
O.K.; So Jerri talks me into going to El Toro to ask them to sponsor 12-yr-old Kassi's softball team and change our name to "EL TORO".
So, having been shot down by 3 other businesses, I figured, what the heck, the "Las Chicas" girls got some $$ from them, but don't even have their team named after EL TORO! On the way home from work one day I stopped at El Toro to ask the question.
I walk in the door and this older fellow that I've not seen on my many visits there before hands me a menu. I set it down on the counter and explain to him what I'm there for. This is an older-distinguished looking Latino-type guy that carries himself like he owns the place. As I'm talking to him I feel like we've hit the jackpot as he is very intently listening to me. He nods several times, smiles and says, "Un Momento". I thought, "Well that was easy- he's going to check with the Mrs. or something!" as he walks away.
I watch him go back into the kitchen and a moment or two later he emerges with a woman. He gestures towards me while he's talking to her and there's an exchange of more Spanish between the two of them and he comes back to speak to me. Now you may not know this, but I've got a 50% hearing loss in my left ear and I'm not too quick with the right.
Understanding anyone in a noisy environment is a challenge for me in any language, let alone broken Spang-lish. The fellow says something to me that I think is about polo shirts and not being quite sure what he said I just repeated that I'm looking for a sponsor to buy T-Shirts, blah, blah, blah, etc. He nods as he smiles at me and says again, "Un momento, por favor." Then he heads to the kitchen again.
I sit down at an empty booth and wait, thinking they're talking it over with the head cabelleriaro or something. Then the woman emerges from the back carrying a large bag and a slip of paper. She comes to the front and puts it down on the counter. Now comes the distinguished looking guy back to the counter and he gestures for me to come over. He hands me the slip of paper as he says, "Por favor, Seven Eight Teen" (Funny how he could say $7.18 without a hint of an accent...). "What?" I say. He then says again "$7.18". UGH.
Now I figured it out. He has had no idea what I've asked and I've had not a clue to what he was saying to me. I begin to explain again what I'm there for when I decide that I've just got to shut up and give him $7.18. It appears that I've ordered a grilled chicken salad with tomato, cucumber and carrots. Kassi informs me that the "shirts" I thought they were talking about, saying "Polo" to me several times- you know; like a polo shirt, actually meant "Chicken" in Spanish. UGH. It also appears I ordered chips and three different sauces. TO GO.
I quit. Why did I take 4 years of German?
ELM CREEK 23 - WILD THINGS 8
(Champlin, MN) - Under the first calm skies of the year at any venue, game 5 of the CDAA regular season began in the first inning with a whimper and ended in a roar as Elm Creek beat Wild Things 23-8 Wednesday night 5/21, staying unbeaten in league play and improving to 14-3 overall.
The game began as calm as the evening with a little knock up the middle by Katie Meissner. She was forced at 2nd however after an outstanding play was made by the Things' pitcher, who stabbed a screaming ground ball off the bat of otherwise hot-hitting Jamie Lichy. Christa Koep then walked, followed by a hard single to left-center by Sam Ubl that allowed Lichy to score from 2nd.
The inning seemed to be winding down after Heather Schiller's attempt to knock a passing helicopter out of the sky failed as she flew out.
Then the fireworks began. Consecutive doubles by Alicia "Hollywood" Hughes and Jackie "Soxx" McLain were followed by a single by Hannah Schiller, a monster double by Megan Steffel, a single by Tonya LaMont, an air-mailed double by Steff Larson, walks by Rachel Koehler and Kelli Thiel, then yet another double off the bat of Meissner. Koep capped the scoring at 12 in the inning with a single to score Meissner.
After the Things posted some power-hitting of their own in the bottom of the 1st, the score stood at 12-5 after just one! A string of errors by Elm Creek allowed the score to get to 13-8 after the 3rd, but then another barrage of bashes in the top of the 4th, highlighted by a solid smash single off the bat of the aforementioned would-be helicopter-killer Heather Schiller, put the Creek on top 23-8 and that's where it ended via the "run-rule".

ELM CREEK 21 - TOYOTA CITY 0
Click HERE to find Game 9 Summary
(Champlin, MN) - Elm Creek allowed 1-HIT in defeating Toyota City on the way to a 21-0 victory at Northland Park's field #2 Wednesday night. The girls managed 16 hits with doubles by Jamie Lichy, Jackie McLain, Alicia Hughes, Hannah Schiller and Tonya LaMont. Heather Schiller hit 2 HR, including a Grand Slam.
Defensively, the Creek limited their opponents to just 11 plate appearances with just one error on a questionable call by the scorekeeper who shall go nameless. It was an outstanding effort on a tough play that first baser Rachel Koehler almost made- but only Supergirl could've made that play. Koehler later said, "Sorry, but I don't see a red "S" on the front of my shirt."
ELM CREEK 23 - BPAA 13
Click HERE to find Game 10 Summary
(Champlin, MN) - In the nightcap, the yellow and black fought off a hard-hitting, slick-running BPAA #1 team 23-13.
Even a questionable call at home by a usually steady and trusted umpire didn't slow the Creek as they slapped out 22 hits including 4 doubles, 2 by Jamie Lichy. Steff Larson continued her latest hitting streak at 4 games with a bases-loaded single in the first inning. Katie Meissner and Christa Koep were 3 for 4.
Kelli Thiel had 3 put-outs at catcher, but was robbed of a 4th. After player #11 for BPAA cleared the bases with a triple in the bottom of the 1st inning, she dashed for home on a ground-ball to Jackie McLain at pitcher. McLain threw to Rachel Koehler for the force at 1st and Koehler through to Thiel at the plate who appeared to get the tag on #11's right knee before she crossed the dish.

FAMILY VS. ELM CREEK!
GIRLS 17 - FAMILIES 6!
(CHAMPLIN, MN) - The Elm Creek girls pasted their parents and Will S. May 4th at Clyde. All of the girls appeared ready to go at the plate. Running on the basepaths though was a little dubious. There appeared to be a bit of rust on the wheels as a few nameless players were moving as though they had a pop machine strapped on their back. (That's humor for you youths that are too sensitive.)
All was not lost for the family team though as Head Coach Bernie (Christa Jr.) Koep belted a 0-1 pitch the wrong way down the line for a 2-run inside-the-park homer.
Below see trainer Claire doing the "Magic Fingers" routine on Woods. The evil spell worked, she can hardly walk now.
SPRING FLING TOURNEY!
(CHAMPLIN, MN) - Elm Creek finished in the top four in the girl's first ever 16U tournament. A loss to the hot-hitting Glen Lake girls ended ECS' bid for the Spring Fling Championship.
"We were 4 & 2, this is actually outstanding for the first tournament at this level," said ECS head coach Bernie Koep, "I think the girls were a little hard on themselves after a good team simply hit the ball well in our final game."
Glen Lake strung together an impressive set of hits that just found the open holes in the defense allowing them to score a pile of runs. This is the same type of beating that ECS put on a few other teams in this same tourney.
"The girls need to remember that you've always got a chance if you just do your best," said assistant coach R. J. Thiel, "You can't play at a high level if you're dragging your head."
Wednesday Elm Creek opens the regular season in Champlin's 16U CDAA league. The girls are waiting now to play:

HERZOG ARRIVES IN MINNESOTA!
(BEACH OF ANOKA, MN) -- Elm Creek coach Ron Herzog made good on his vow to return to Minnesota last week as his boat arrived from Arizona just off Anoka Beach on the Rum River. Herzog had to take a ship after it was discovered that his 1951 Studebaker Commando wouldn't be able to make the trip. "I'm sad to report that my faithful car has left it's usefulness behind..." said Herzog when asked about his method of transportation, "I was fortunate to commandeer an available Higgins LCVP to complete my trip back to Minnesota."
Last Winter when Herzog left the state he vowed, "I shall return!" He's shown above wading ashore with other returning Snowbirds after their LCVP run aground in the Rum River just north of it's mouth at the Mississippi.

WHAT? ALICIA HUGHES QUITS ELM CREEK TEAM; WILL PURSUE SINGING CAREER INSTEAD!
(CHAMPLIN, MN) --
In an unexpected if not uncharacteristic move, long-time Elm Creek second base person Alicia Hughes announced through her agent that she's hanging up her cleats to further the musical career of her dreams.
"Ms. Hughes has had an offer that she can't refuse," said agent Vito Corleone from his office in Las Vegas, NV., "she'll be singing along with the 2nd base instead of fielding grounders next to it."
Friends of the 2nd sacker were completely taken aback by the move.
"If anything, I thought she'd be Dancing With The Stars, but not this," said long-time pal Tonya LaMont, "but she tends to do what she wants."
Coach Bernie Koep only could comment, "Happy April Fool's Day to you too R. J."

THE BLACK DEMARINI LIVES!
(RAMOKADOVER, MN) -- To steal a headline from Craig Larson, the scourge of the league bat will return to Elm Creek this year. Though much searching and work, Mr. Larson has pulled off the steal of the year in obtaining this vintage bat; still NEW in the wrapper!
"It took blood, sweat and tears-- but I got lucky," Larson explained, "I posed as a poor, little girl from the wrong side of the tracks and got the deal I needed for this slice of Aluminum Heaven!" Hopefully the girls appreciate the effort.
A similar bat, you may remember, was provided for team use by Sam Ubl's Mom. However, this unit met it's demise in late 2007, with the end falling out and the barrel getting dented. Much consternation and hand-wringing took place lamenting the loss of the metal ball punisher, but our hero has saved the day.

New Monument Proposed in Champlin

(Champlin, MN) - The Champlin Park and Recreation Commission recently reviewed proposals for a monument to be placed at Northland Park. There were several suggestions put forth, but the one that Elm Creek News was able to obtain an artist's(?) rendering of (excuse dangling participle) is shown here. It depicts four sluggers from the Elm Creek team; they are Jessi 579 Battingaverage, Hannah Ninetriples, Jackie Nintyeightrunsbattedin and Lamie Seventeendoubles. There just isn't enough room for Quitwhining Heather.

ELM CREEK PLAYERS USING PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS?
(CHAMPLIN, MN) -- (**Editors note: This is a multi-part series that will examine the fringe element of softball players that go off the deep end now and then**) Allegations flew at recent meeting of Kongress of Koncerned Krumudgeons, members accused Elm Creek players of using chemically created, performance enhancing beverages to improve their on-field play. This beverage has been derided by parents, yet praised and almost worshiped by players and statisticians. Readily available at supermarkets and gas stations everywhere, this product has been known to cause spontaneous outbursts of energy in teenagers that heretofore has been unseen by most parents, coaches and educators.
“A few blasts of this and I’m like WOW!” said Kelli Thiel of Elm Creek, “I can’t control myself—it’s like I want to get up and go!” This, of course, is unusual behavior for Ms. Thiel as she’s usually prone to such actions as that of a three-toed sloth, sprawling out across an expanse of sofa and watching endless hours of “The Gilmore Girls” or the latest release of anything starring Christian Bale.
“This stuff these kids drink today is nasty!” exclaims Jerri Thiel, mother of said aforementioned youth, “I want my kid to have energy out of wholesome goodness and hearty helpings of old-fashioned good home cooking from scratch—like the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls that I slaved over just last night, bashing the package on the side of the counter to open it, rolling the little strips of dough and popping it in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes at 350° or until golden brown,” continued Thiel, “Now that’s good cookin’!”
What is this evil, demon-like concoction that has parents and teens alike in a frenzy? It’s “VAULT” and in part 2 of our next edition, we’ll examine exactly what is going on with this phenomenon.
(CHAMPLIN, MN) -- (**Editors note: This is the second of a two-part series that examined the fringe element of softball players that go off the deep end now and then**) So, anyway, when we last wrote here we discussed how kids can't handle caffeine in this insane Vault! It’s almost as though the affect this drink has on these kids almost isn’t a bad thing. Recently after a few bottles of the stuff, Jackie McLain re-shingled her roof, Tonya LaMont knit a pickup truck cozy, Rachel Kohler went way off the deep end and re-mapped the entire city of Ramsey. A little positive energy can go a long way!
However, then there’s the dark side and the backlash. Megan Steffel polished off a bottle and duct-taped her little brother to a kitchen chair and made him eat creamed tuna over toast without a fork, Sam Ubl took all of her younger sister’s shoelaces and used them to weave Rapunzle’s hair in a diorama depicting the fair tale, Jamie Lichy took all of the scrap wood in her Dad’s workshop and built a life-sized Black Pearl in their back yard- which may not be so bad except she keeps shooting the cannon at the neighbor’s cat.
All of these things imagined or real can’t be good or I must be nuts as I’m hopped up on the stuff as I write. So, what’s the answer? I don’t even remember the question!
3/10/08 PHONES AND TEXTING BANNED!
(CHAMPLIN, MN) – Under recent regulations handed down by the Association of Softball Supervisors (A.S.S.), players will no longer be able to use mobile phones to communicate on the field during games.
“We here at A.S.S. suggest that one reason teams like Elm Creek have been successful is their player’s use of personal communications devices to aid them in their game,” said Farquar D. Funkiller, Chief of A.S.S., “What never occurred to the Board of Governors is the rapidity that these teenaged girls would be able to text 40 to 50 words a minute on a mobile phone’s keyboard!”
Funkiller noted games that Elm Creek had posted wins of 44-1 and 36-0 in the past season and hinted that while the A.S.S. had no proof it is claimed to have eye-witnesses that reported that EC pitcher Jackie McLain texted instructions to outfielders during games.
“I have no knowledge of any such events,” claimed EC Head Coach Bernie Koep, “I know I certainly haven’t participated anyway, I keep dropping my bloody phone in the fire pit in my front yard; You know where a guy can find a fire-proof phone?”
Coach Craig Larson says, "It's highly doubtful that this is going on, although I wonder-- my kid Steff has greatly increased her WPM typing on the computer...but no, why aren't you talking to Hughes, she's the text queen!"
Larson refers to second base person Alicia Hughes, recent winner of Verizon's "How Many People Can You Text About Your New Nail Color" contest. Elm Creek News only received a text reply to our request from Ms. Hughes, "OMG, IMFAO U R NUTS!"
Despite Koep’s denial, Larson's ambiguous musing and Hughes' cryptic code,
other witnesses, that wish to remain unidentified, claim that they’ve seen EC third baseperson Sam Ubl place a call to outfielder Tonya LaMont and inform her that the ball is coming her way. LaMont claims to not have been discussing game activity, but talking to fellow outfielder Hannah Schiller and complimenting her recent application of glittery eye shadow.
Which brings up another issue under investigation by the A.S.S. and Funkiller; was Schiller attempting to blind opposing batters by batting her stylish shiny eyelids lacquered with stunning silver glitter?
3/9/2008 JOJO TICKED OFF; TOO OLD FOR ELM CREEK
(Brattleboro, VT) - Pop Star on the fade, JoJo (born Joanna Noëlle Levesque on December 20, 1990) recently commented that she's quite unhappy that she isn't eligible to wear the Yellow & Black this year after turning 17 this past December. Hoping to resurrect her "flash in the pan" career, Ms. Levesque (who has a last name worthy of a Johnny Depp spy thriller character) reportedly phoned coach Koep to inquire about a tryout at short-stop.
Christa Koep at one point during the conversation grabbed the phone and informed the aged teenie-bopper that, "Listen, you whacked chick, I'm the SS on this team and no over-hyped, hair dyin', body make over babe is gonna come into MY town an take MY spot in any line up!" Of course Ms. Koep was doing that cool "neck thang" of hers while yacking to the prospective replacement.
However, in his calming, "let cooler heads prevail" manner, coach Koep informed them both that, even though Elm Creek was honored to have young JoJo consider playing for the team, she was in fact too old now. Christa then backed off muttering, "No starry-eyed, flamin', washed up rock star be comin' to MY town..." etc.
3/7/2008 GHANDI FAN OF THE YELLOW & BLACK!
(New Dehli, India) - The deceased Indian leader recently said from the grave (translated), "Hot Damn, nothin' beats a day at the ballpark watchin' Elm Crick and munchin on a couple O' dogs and cheese popcorn!"
3/5/2008 OLD-AGE HOME REFUGEE MEISSNER NOT RETIRING
(Champlin, MN) - Highly sought after free agent player Katie Meissner has inked a multi-year deal with Elm Creek. Details of the contract were not disclosed, but it's a good bet that it includes Dairy Queen incentives. General Manager Bernie Koep wouldn't comment on the details.
Meissner returns to the team that she posted a .571 batting average for in 2006 when #00 last wore the Vegas Yellow & Black."I guess the fact that my fabulous cousin Jessi Tyminski plays for EC tipped the scales in their favor," said the veteran, "Somebody's got to keep her in line."
"Katie can play all over the field," says Koep, "It'll be good for the rest of the girls have someone so close to retirement age on the squad to add some serious experience."
Meissner was second on the team with a 1.161 slugging percentage in 2006 and her added power will help to inch up an already impressive 15 runs-per-game EC average.
